Greetings from congregation Chai v’Shalom
Kurt and Barb Anderson recently had an opportunity to celebrate Trinity Sunday with Congregation Chai v’Shalom in St. Louis, Missouri. Trinity Lutheran Church is a Partner in Ministry with this small LCMS congregation of Jewish and non-Jewish believers in Jesus, worshipping together in much the same fashion as in the 1st century using a “second-temple model” of worship. To see what this model looks like, please take a look at the service folder posted on the Board of Missions bulletin board.
Pastor Kevin Parviz and the congregation members send greetings, blessings, and thanks to the members of Trinity. Congregation Chai v’Shalom has a two-fold mission. First, it is engaged in intentional outreach to Jewish people in St. Louis and, through its partner ministries, in every city with a significant Jewish population. Second, it helps Christians appreciate the Jewish roots of their faith so they will be in ministry to God’s first people, from whom He sent His only Son that the world might be reconciled through Him.
Please keep Congregation Chai v’Shalom, Pastor Parviz, the Jewish people, the church members, and their mission in your prayers. For additional information, go to www.chaivshalom.com.
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.” Romans 1:16

July Game Night
The next game night will be Friday, July 7th, 7:00pm.  Join us in the fellowship hall at church for snacks, fun, and games - card, board, or others!  This is an event open to the community so feel free to bring a friend!

Creation/Ark Trip
To clear up any confusion, here’s the ‘why’ on the creation/ark trip.  Last fall, DCE Jackie held a parent/youth meeting to discuss the 2017 summer youth trip as she always does.  Many ideas were brought up but finding a time and trip that the youth could commit to was not found.  So it was decided to go to the creation museum and ark to learn more about the Biblical account of creation, an educational trip.  Due to all the youth not being able to find a common time that worked for all, it was decided to open the trip up to anyone in the congregation and make it a family style trip for all to enjoy.  Youth could without their families, but it was open to all.  Thus the fundraising we have done this year for the ‘youth’ trip was done for the trip as always, but the trip turned into a family style trip.  If you have any questions, please talk to DCE Jackie or any member of the board of education.

National Night Out
A committee is busy working on plans for our National Night Out party on Tuesday, Aug. 1st. We covet your prayers most of all for a successful night in getting to know our neighbors at church.  If you’d like to volunteer to help in another way, see DCE Jackie or Barb Anderson.

Strawberry Orders
Reminder that if you ordered strawberries, call Lorence’s the day before you want your strawberries.  Tell them your name and you are with Trinity and they will have your berries ready for you!  Contact Lorence’s at 645-9749.  According to Lorence’s website the strawberries are ready to be picked.

Come To Trinity’s National Night Out Party
You are invited and encouraged to attend our Second Annual Nation Night Out Party in the church parking lot on Tuesday, August 1st, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., rain or shine.  This year promises to be even better than last year with food, games and activities for all ages, music, a bouncy house, special gifts, and lots of great conversations.  We’re invited the surrounding neighborhood and the Northfield police and firefighters to join us for a fun evening, and you’re welcome to invite your family, friends, and neighbors!  Here’s how you can be an important part of this event:
Pray for God’s blessings, including great weather and a big turnout
Volunteer to help either before, during, or after the party
Attend the party, have fun, and be a good host to our guests

Many thanks to the hardworking members of this year’s National Night Out Party Committee: Pastors Klein and Boehme, Kurt Anderson, Terri Casmey, Holly Ciffra, and Audry Hovland. If you have any questions or can help, please call either DCE Jackie (645-4438) or Barb Anderson (507-581-1642).
